Can fever cause an increase in white blood cell count?

Yes.: There are many causes for fever, usually infectious. A high white blood cell count often occurs as well, depending on the type of infection or other problem. Bacterial infections especially will cause a high wbc, not so much with viral infections.

Yes, fever and WBC: Elevation often go hand in hand in the context of infection and/or inflammation. Both are features of an "inhospitable environment" for the infecting agent. In that sense, fever is not all bad, it can just make you feel bad. Antipyretics like Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen can improve symptoms and help you ride out the problem, but if you are concerned about your status, get in touch with your dr.
