A member asked:

Are ear and throat infections contagious?

Yes: If they are infections, they are contagious. Fluid in the ears can be caused by allergies and would not be contagious. Same with drainage in the throat. If it a bacteria or virus, it is contagious. If it is allergies, it is not.

Viral cause is: Most all ear, nose and throat infections begin with a viral illness. The viral illness is certainly contagious. A secondary bacterial infection, such as strep, is also quite contagious.
