Children's Hospital: A toddler with a cleft lip/palate is usually evaluated and treated by a plastic or ENT surgeon with pediatric training. I see that you are from madison, ohio. Two very nearby cities have good children's hospitals -- rainbow babies and children's hospital in cleveland, and akron children's hospital. You should contact one of those institutions and get scheduled into the appropriate clinic.

Good cleft team: As was mentioned, a hospital with a good cleft team is what you need. Riley hospital in indianapolis has a great team as well, but that may be a bit far for you. It takes a team of surgeons, doctors, speech therapists, and prosthodontists working together to optimally treat this condition.

Get them fixed: The cleft lip should be repaired as soon as you child is medically ready-usually in the first few months of life. The palate is usually repaired before speech begins in the first year. The child will also feed better if the palate is fixed. I would ask for a referral from your pediatrician asap.

See specialist: See a specialist in ear, nose , and throat surgery or maxillo-facial specialist who has experience in cleft lip/palate repair.
