Swollen glands: If you mean swollen glands, ie, a sore throat with swelling of the lymph nodes in the neck, otc pain relievers like tylenol, (acetaminophen) advil or Aleve can help the pain of the glands and throat, and lozenges can ease the soreness of the raw throat. Irrigating with saline solution as in the sinus rinse kit can also help the soreness due to drainage, especially if you raise your head and let it run down inside.
