Chronic pancreatitis: Medical known as lateral .Pancreaticojejunonsotomy. Major abdominal surgery for relief of pain associated with chronic pancreatitis. Surgery consists of opening pacreatic from one end to other(from head to tail)slit open duct is then sutured to loop of proximal small bowel, jejunum. This permits pancreatiuc juices to drain directly into the small bowel without having to travel down length of duct.
