Red cheeks: Typically scarlet fever is a flushed red cheeks. Even of you think is a possibility this a reaction to a strep infection and must be treated because this can cause internal effects both on the heart or kidneys and must be treated with antibiotics.

Scarlet fever: Usually within 2 days of the fever from a strep infection a red sandpaper like rash develops on the neck then trunk and extremities. There can be superficial sloughing of skin, even on the palms. The tongue develops a whitish 'coating' and the classic 'strawberry tongue' look. The rash resolves in 4-7 days and more sloughing (desquamation) occurs, especially on the hands for up to 4 weeks.

Red, sandpapery….: …rash generally on the trunk and sometimes in the creases of arms or legs. It is very fine and feels rough to the touch. May be caused by a strep infection in the throat or elsewhere in the body.. Should always see a doctor ASAP if you have a rash like this. Good luck!
