Eat less move more: The only real solution to losing weight is to cut back your intake. You must expend more calories than you take in. Track what you eat daily to get a good idea of what values the foods you eat have. Increase your activity levels. Increase your intake of fruits and veg, eliminate sugary beverages and excess fats. Try choosemyplate.Gov for ideas on dietary changes and excellent tracking system.

Nutrient dense foods: Eat foods that are nutrient dense (like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, low starch vegatables and water) avoid foods that are not nutrient dense (like starches and sugars, including fruit) nutrient dense foods will increase your basal metabolic rate. On the other hand, starches and sugars impair thyroid metabolism via affects on your liver (which helps activate thyroid hormone).
