Edema swelling: Swelling of lower legs and ankles from fluid retention if blood Albumin levels are low as a result of proteinuria. If severe can cause swelling of the lower limbs and around eyes.

In the extreme case: If the urine protein loss is sufficient to cause a drop in serum Albumin below normal (3.0 g/dl), then there isn't enough oncotic pressure to keep fluids in the blood stream and they seep out to the soft tissues, causing edema. Edema from other causes is much more common.
