No: Anybody who tells a teen that masturbating is a threat to their emotional or physical health is someone you shouldn't listen to -- they are badly misinformed &/or trying to manipulate you. For most teens, it's a way to learn about your new body while being responsible toward others. If you are obsessed with sexuality, talk with your physician (talk and/or rx can help) or a wise adult (dad?).

YesButOnlyDueToIdeas: Many have a variety of ideas on the topic; most driven by confusion, ignorance, fear, shame, old religious edicts, etc. As suggestible creatures (rocks are not), one can easily be influenced by such ideas & emotions. As a part of normal body function, there is no evidence that self-stimulation is much different from other stimulation, except that one has greater control & direct feedback.

NO, just bad info: Masturbation in& of itself won't hurt u, just like stroking ur hair wont. They both produce pleasurable sensations. But certain religious beliefs about it ("it is bad/sinful" because, 4 example, it 'wastes' seed [sperm]) &/or bad information about it ("it will make u sterile, lose ur hair, etc") can make people fear masturbation &/or feel ashamed by it.
