Several things: Diabetics are more prone to neuropathy which can cause numbness. This can lead to unperceived trauma and infection. Circulatory and vessel disease can lead to ischemia, ulcer and gangrene. Diabetic often heal slowing and infection can spread rapidly.

Many things: Feet are a sensitive area and are open to injury or infection. They can have compromised blood circulation that make s it difficult to heal sores or infection. We keep them in shoes and socks that can create fungal infections.

It is possible with: Diabetes to have poor circulation as well as neuropathy. They have a higher risk of this compared to the non diabetic population. The lack of sensation can allow one to not realize they have a problem with the foot like a painful callous which can then turn into an ulceration. If the circualtion is bad then this ulcer will not heel properly...This in turn can lead to an amputation..
