Most common...: Is patient losing protein in urine due to kidneys damaged by diabetes, and reduced protein in blood allows fluid to leak into tissues, gravity dependent, so seen in legs irst.

Swelling: As stated . Plus with diabetes there can be circulatory distrubances that can cause swelling. Stick with your endocrinologist for the best help with diabetes , but you should see a podiatrist for foot care.
