A doctor has provided 1 answer

LD= difficulty: A learning disability implys that a person is having difficulty with a specific area of learning that is inconsistent with his/her basic intellect. In kids it implys that s/he has fallen behind her/his peer group at the age when understanding that material (i.e.Reading) is expected. The kid with a low iq has trouble across many areas & would not be so labeled.
