A member asked:

Will alcohol based sanitizer kill h1n1 virus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes and no: Technically a virus cannot be killed since it is not alive to begin with. It is more like a container with a program that inserts itself into a living cell and takes it over, leading to reproduction of the virus and infection of other cells. To prevent h1n1 - hand-washing and alcohol based sanitizers are recommended. Alcohol should be at least 60% content in the sanitizer. Prevention is the key.
