What are the differences between chiggers & scabies?

Scabies mite burrows: The missouri dept. Of conservation says chiggers are baby mites that can only bite through areas of thinner tender skin. Chiggers bite to inject saliva. They do not suck blood nor burrow into the skin. Scabies is caused by a mite that burrows under the skin, leaving a track that can sometimes be seen as a small line. People catch scabies from other people. Each chigger leaves one very itchy bite.

Scabies & Chiggers: Chiggers live in grass, tall weeds, shrubs and other vegetation; and attack humans who venture into their territory. Humans usually pick up scabies from skin-to-skin contact with an infested person or from infested clothing or linens. Chiggers are small and red, measuring about an eighth of an inch. Scabies, which are only about 1/60 of an inch long, are difficult to see with the unaided eye.
