A member asked:

Could my 14 y.o. son stunt his growth by doing heavy weightlifting?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Only if: Nutritional deprivation/ aggressive dieting can stunt growth as can over exercising. Lifting heavy weights, per se, won't stunt growth, but could lead to growth plate slippage requiring orthopedic surgery, particularly in the hip if he is still actively growing.
