Not for C diff !: Though we may question the types of scenarios where gels are appropriate, one consensus exists- gels should not be used when seeing a patient with c difficile infections- patients suffer from massive diarrhea. Gels are inadequate to rid ands from the spores the bacteria form. Only soap and water can mechanically wash away the spores from your hand.
