Trick question: The human metabolism is capable of breaking down many tissue types and converting protein from muscle & fat into glucose after the glycogen (primary glucose storage molecule) is depleted. Recall any visual you ever saw on starving prisoners/holocaust victims. An often quoted rule: the average human can survive 3 days without water or 3 weeks without food.
