When someone looks up to another for respect, prestige, compassion, knowledge, etc., they may be confused with feelings of love. They should be counseled that it's neither accurate nor appropriate. They have adoration for the person because of their position. The doctor can also counsel the patient accordingly.

Can happen: It might happen, but ethically a doctor cannot be in a relation with his/her patient because of the role of physician and possibility of abuse.

Hard to define.: A feeling of love can mean different things; it may be synonymous with a feeling of safety, trust, respect, a father/mother figure. The problems--major ones--come in if there is any motion to act upon those feelings, be it from patient, doctor, or mutually. Any sexual interchange can put the physicians license, career, or personal life in danger. Leave the feeling alone, let it remain just that.
