Hemorhoids or seriou: It could just be hemorrhoids or it could be a serious problem that needs medical attention. It could be caused by bleeding from a polyp which might be cancerous or from an arteriovenous malformation in the colon. If it persists see your docctor.

Agree with Dr. S: Sources of bright red blood could be hemorrhoids, anal fissure or inflammation in rectum or distal colon. It may also be due to a bleeding disorder.
