Variable: Vision can be affected by numerous issues as we age. Some patients have excellent vision for their entire life. Others develop cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration, or other problems as they age. Every person is different in this regard.

Most don't: We eyedoctors define "getting bad" as uncorrectable vision. Most eyes never get to that level. Things can happen: disease, trauma, degeneration - which can lower the best possible vision. This can happen at any age. All eyes lose some near vision capacity after age 40 (termed presbyopia) but this is correctable. Schedule regular exams with your ophthalmologist.
