Complications: The clinical complications of undescended testes include testicular cancer, subfertility, testicular torsion, and inguinal hernia. If torsion (or twisting) of the undescended testis occurs, this can be painful. Also, if an inguinal hernia becomes incarcerated or strangulated, this can be very painful as well.

Yes: Undescended testes are at increased risk of undergoing torsion. This is extremely painful & an emergency. Subject can also experience a painful incarcerated hernia (one which can not easily be reduced). Undescended testes lying in front of pubic bone are also at increased risk of painful trauma. Further reasons why undescended testes should be corrected surgically & early.
