Is a 3.9 inr dangerous. should cumadin be adjusted if have history of pulmonary embolism? after accident the doctors said inr should run 2 to 3.

A bit high, not dang: At 3.9, it is a bit higher than recommended, but this is still within the range for certain condition (ie. Person with thrombosed artificial valve). If it has been in good range before this, simply skip one dose and get back to usual the following day should get you back on track. If this is just started recently and being titrated, your doc will instruct/prescribe new dose. Consult doc. Good luck.

Depends...: If there is no bleeding present, your blood work can be monitored and Coumadin (warfarin) adjusted if it is trending higher. This is just one number so the trend needs to be known before the dose is adjusted. Call your doctor if you notice any bleeding and keep your diet stable.

No and yes: 3.9 INR is usually not dangerous by itself unless you are bleeding, then it should be reversed. Your Coumadin (warfarin) should be adjusted. Talk to your doctor.
