Wait: This is an elective surgery unless there are bowel/bladder control issues or a progressive weakness and you don't want any complications so discuss this with your primary care doc, your surgeon and the anesthesiologist. It could also be allergies but you want to minimize all risks. If you smoke and stop 6 weeks preop, your risks become the same as a non smoker.
