See your doc now.: Pain down a leg, swelling and pain in the calf, pain so severe that it impairs gait and can barely walk--something serious is going on. Could be severe lumbar spine, hip or knee disorder, clot in a leg vein (thrombophlebitis), a dissecting popliteal cyst in back of knee, or a dissecting artey in your leg. Get to the doc, now.

Blood Clot?: Swelling is not normally seen in sciatica pain. A fever with that swollen limb which may suggest a clot more than sciatica otherwise not very specific. I would suggest ruling out the clot first and then workup the sciatica issue afterwards.
