Meningitis: Sinusitis can spread if it is untreated and the area around the brain could become involved. Infections of the brain have been documented from sinusitis especially in the pre-antibiotic era.

Very rare: It is very rare that either acute sinusitis and-even more remote that chronic sinusitis would be complicated with brain infection. It is possible for a very fulminating acute bacterial sinusitis to cause a brain abscess, particular frontal or ethmoid sinusitis. What happens is that you would be extremely ill and would need IV antibiotics to save your life.
