Sympotms: In most cases there are no symptoms of ovarian cysts even if they are fairly large. Those are incidental findings on ultrasounds done for other reasons. Usually symptoms are reported with rupture of a cyst occurs, causing pain in the lower abdomen in most cases. Infected cysts can cause pain, fever, vaginal discharge, etc. Some women may complain of missed periods if no ovulation occurs.
