Depends on grade: Grade 1 & 2 tumors are considered benign and long survivals are expected. Grade 3 or anaplastic gliomas 3-5 yrs, and grade 4 or glioblastomas tend to have shorter survival periods depending on age, sex, resectability, and presence or absence of seizures..

Depends on the grade: Astrocytomas are graded 1-4. Grade 1 have excellent long term survival, and may be cured with excision. Grade 2 have an average survival of 7-9 years. Grade 3 have an average of 3-5 years. Grade 4, 14 months. These are based on patients that have surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Survival rates are less without these therapies. Newer therapies have recently improved the survival rates
