Dr. James Chu answered

OI collagen disease: Osteogenesis imperfecta (oi) is a congenital disorder of collagen (important component of bone). Oi is present at birth, and leads to repeated fractures, starting in childhood. There is no consistent treatment to prevent fractures in oi. Osteoporosis refers to an acquired state of fragile bones, most commonly occurring in post-menopausal women. Many therapies can reduce osteoporosis fractures.
