OI collagen disease: Osteogenesis imperfecta (oi) is a congenital disorder of collagen (important component of bone). Oi is present at birth, and leads to repeated fractures, starting in childhood. There is no consistent treatment to prevent fractures in oi. Osteoporosis refers to an acquired state of fragile bones, most commonly occurring in post-menopausal women. Many therapies can reduce osteoporosis fractures.

Calcium loss : Osteoporosis is the loss of normal calcium in the human body that occurs as well get older but it can occur as the result of certain medications use. Osteogeneisis imperfecta is a fragile bone condition that results in fractures seen at birth or latter on in infancy and is not similar to osteoporosis although latter on in the aging patient and older population can be predisposed fractures.
