Other options: Sure there are many options, especially when you are young and desire future fertility. We have seen many patients respond to hormonal and drug treatment, minor surgery or both. If surgery is determined to be the next step, i would always suggest trying a conservative approach such as cystotomy, cystectomy or microscopic ovarian wedge resection. These techniques have worked well for my pcos pts.

Yes and no: There are surgical treatments that will improve pcos, at least in the short term. Ovarian drilling and ovarian wedge resection are sometimes employed in the treatment of pcos and both can result in return of the normal cycle - but usually only for about 4 to 6 months. The majority of women will eventually become irregular again as the pcos returns.
