why are my eyelids swollen and a black ring under my eye in the mornings when i wake up?

Alleries: Sounds like some type of allergic response especially with the dark rings under the eyes which usually is associated with sinus congestion and engorgement of veins under your eyes.

Not unusual: Se eyelid swelling in the morning is not unusual.... When we lay flat, fluid in the body redistributes, and that may result in some puffiness of the face. Cut back on salt intake, and make sure you get plenty of good quality sleep, and you may see some improvement.
