Swelling & Pain: The most common symptoms of DVT (deep venous thrombosis) is unilateral limb swelling. Some experience pain as well. If you notice one leg/arm with more swelling than the other after surgery, trauma or pregnancy, you should see your doctor as soon as possible. If you develop shortness of breath also, you should go straight to the emergency room, as some of the clot may have traveled to the lungs.

Maybe: The word "getting" is difficult to answer in reference to the signs of getting a blood clot compared to the signs of a blood clot. So the discussion is on the signs of stasis of blood flow which occurs before some blood clots form. These signs other than an enlarged veins are tenderness in or over the vein, and the tenderness is more localized if a clot is maturing.
