Many things.: Caffeine (e.g. Lots of coffee), cysts in the breasts, normal cycle changes, etc.. Can cause breast tenderness. Most leakage/discharge from the breasts is normal. Bloody or pinkish discharge is not normal and warrants further evaluation.

Fibrocystic changes: The most common cause of breast pain is fibrocystic changes. This is a natural process in all breast tissue, especially around menstrual cycle. Some of us can have pain aggravated by caffeine, hormone intake and stress. Clear discharge is common and not worrisome. If the color changes to brown or red, then see your doctor.
