Repair: Although the most natural of events occurring over tens of thousands of years, there are still some "kinks" to work out with this thing called childbirth. Occasionally, tears do occur, and the physician or midwife you've entrusted with your care should know how to repair these birth "lacerations" and, most likely, avoid any long-standing problems.

Episiotomy: At times, tearing may be common, and you would need an episiotomy, which involves the suturing of a tear (which may be made by the gyn surgeon to cause less pain and an easier repair of the vaginal area).
