Depends: For some people, longterm boredom can lead to depression. It is much better to have a purpose and be busy than to sit around dooing nothing. Even volunteering your time to the homeless, to a food shelter or pantry or to the humane society can lift your spirits! look for a hoby or something you enjoy and you will feel better.

DEPRESSION: Boredom often masks depression, I would say. Get an evaluation from a psychiatrist to help identify what depression means to you and whatever else may be bothering you. Consider recommendations for medication if any are given. Get a referral for a reputable psychotherapist to speak with. Meds and therapy combined are most optimal; no just one or the other.

A symptom: Boredom may be a symptoms of depression. Please note that regular exercise is as effective as any medication for mild to moderate depression. Exercise at least 30 minutes/day at an intensity you may tolerate, Increase the intensity as your muscular strength improves. Have a healthy diet, exercise, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.
