Prefer to do solids: First then liquids. Usually they are already full with the bottle and so they won't have an appetite for solids. Although , there are babies who will go the other way and have room for more. These babies have very big appetite!

Don't need bottle if: You are breast feeding andcontinue to do so. You do not mention how old your baby is, and solids are not recommended for babies under 6 months of age. Once you start solids start with iron rich cereal, always spoon feed and mix with breast milk. Offer twice a day and be patient. It will take a bit of time. Then try veggies, single item. Wait several days to start new veggies then fruit.

Infant feeding: Solids should be given in by a spoon not bottle. Solid foods are started at 4-6 mos old. That first food should be full of nutrients esp iron and that food is pureed red meat. There are no studies to prove that rice cereal should be the first food introduced. The current trend is to start meats, vegetables, fruits & cereals in no sequence. Try a new food for a few days first before trying another.
