Make a symptom diary: For symptoms that don't obviously point to one particular disorder, a patient should write down symptoms on a big calendar. Include: the symptoms, the time of day, what makes it better, what makes it worse, how long it lasts, any relationship to any activity, relationship to meals, relationship to medications or certain foods, etc... Then, he can show the diary to his doctor during evaluation.
