I had a detached retina repaired with a gas bubble in august and i am pregnant. will i be at any risk giving birth in febuary?

Possibly.: Theoretically you could be at risk for further retinal detachment during pushing in labor. - although no solid scientific data have supported this. Some obstetricians will offer/recommend operative delivery with c-section and/or forceps/vacuum assistance to avoid prolonged pushing efforts. Another, more real risk is for women that develop severe preeclampsia/hellp syndrome to detach their retinas.

Maybe. Get exam. : If you had a detachment, it's not a bad idea to be re-examined to see if there are any tears that could be treated. Laser for retinal tears is safe during pregnancy. The exam can provide reassurance even if there are no tears. If the detachment is stable and there are no new breaks, chances are your retina will be fine. Get another exam after delivery and you will be in great shape. Good luck.
