Not likely.: Its not very likely. The gums frequently bleed not because the probe is damaging them, but because the gums are infected and damage may already have occurred.

No: Even though it may be uncomfortable, it's not doing any permanent damage. Actually - healthy gums tend to be more sensitive to probing than diseased gums because diseased gums are inflamed, and "looser" around the teeth. Good luck!
