Targeting/amifostine: Amifostine is a radio protective agent that sometimes is used in head and neck or brain radiotherapy to reduce the side effects of the treatment. Careful planning to reduce the dose to adjacent normal tissues is also quite important in minimizing side effects. Other things are fairly site specific.
