Straightforward.: A hydrocele repair is a straightforward outpatient operation and recovery depends on the size. Anesthesia is general or spinal. The scrotum is opened, the fluid removed & a repair performed to prevent recurrence. Sutures are used to close the skin. Sometimes a drain is placed, which is removed after 1-2 days. Recovery is about a week, with swelling and discomfort during this period that improves.

Resolution: During the operation, the fluid will be drained and your surgeon will perform a procedure to eliminate the space in which the fluid accumulated. After surgery you will have swelling and discomfort for 1-2 weeks.
