Hard to say: It could be anxiety from a nightmare or it could be sleep apnea. Do you snore? Do you have kind of a thick neck. A sleep study could probably determine the precise nature of your condition.

Probably not: Most people who have night terrors are not aware of the symptoms when they are having them. They usually go back to sleep and have no recollection of the event. You might have sleepn apnea, or another medical condition, or might be suffering from side effects of medications, drugs, or alcohol.
