More expedient: Having less people in the room expedites the visit since more personal questions can be addressed, less interruptions occur, & an exam can be performed more conveniently. I also limit the number of people unless my patient is disabled & needs help or requires an interpreter. It's also allows us to screen for domestic violence/abuse, drug use/alcohol use, or unsafe sexual practices. Take care.
