A member asked:

Is there a mental illness where you fall in love with a doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not: Although there could be mental illnesses associated with that experience, it is, in some form or other, pretty common and probably not caused by a mental illness. In psychiatry, we call this kind of emotional experience transference - emotions that the doctor role (caring, competent, etcetera) evoke, more than a response to how joe doctor or jane doctor is as a person. Uncomfortable not unusual.
