Get evaluated.: Though it is possible for the discomfort & burning of a urinary tract infection to linger after starting treatment, the return of UTI symptoms while on therapy is worrisome for antibiotic resistance. If you have already submitted urine for culture and sensitivity, call your physician for the result & make sure you are on the right medication. If not, get retested.

Possibly: They can if the bacteria causing the UTI is resistant to the antibiotic being prescribed.
