No great suggestion: Most dental insurance plans have an annual benefit . Most are $1000 to 1500. With the cost of a crown between 1000 to 1500 , the insurance benefit would help for the cost of one but not multiple crowns.

Not advisable: If you are unable to get insurance through your work place i would not advise trying to get single dental insurance. Most of those plans have exclusions and many dentists do not accept them..You can try an office that offers an in house plan thus, receiving a discount off their fees, .

You get What U pay 4: Thare is no dental insurance that will pay for you to replace your old crowns, you may get some discounted dental plans, that some dentists enter into a contract with, to provide you with discounts for dental services, but please remember: dentists are not idiots ... You always get what you pay for ....

Dental school: Personal dental insurance is very expensive, if you need extensive work, might be best to go to a teaching institutuion, or a hospital setting that has a dental clinic.

Not easy: Indiviual dental policies can be expensive and deliver little. Many have 1-2 year waiting periods too. Costs will vary on how much coverage you wish. Still most will have a yearly maximum etc. It might be easier to save the money you'd spend on premiums and just get your dental work over a period of time to "update" your mouth. Things may not be as bad as you think.

Individual policy: Dental insurance companies sole purpose is to make a profit. Therefore it is hard to obtain individual dental insurance that covers much. Reason: only someone who actually needs lots of dentistry would purchase those policies. Typical dental insurance is for a group, so the burden is divided by many people. Some of the participants will not even use their benefits. See your dentist.
