A member asked:

Does witch hazel have anti bacterial effects?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Witch hazel is a strong antioxidant and astringent (causes contraction of tissues) applied externally to sores, bruises, and swelling. Based on the components of the plant extract, there are no significant antibacterial properties in witch hazel.
