Unusual: Most thyroid cancers do not produce excess thyroid hormone. Very rarely, a single nodule can produce excess hormone and be cancerous, but those are very unusual.

Thyroid cancer: It is very rare for thyroid caner to cause high thyroid levels. This occurs only with follicular thyroid cancer with extensive, bulky metastatic disease.
