Hernia: In my experience the most commong cause is a hernia of the umbillicus or belly button. This can occur even in young women, often after pregnancy, after surgery made through the umbillicus such as laparoscopy and sometimes for no obvious reason at all. Best to see a doctor and let them examine you and make a recommendation as to what it is and how best to treat.
