Advice on cats with roundworms--can they spread to kids?

Yes: Most parasites that affect our pets can affect us as well. That is why it is pertinent that pets have routine veterinary care. If infected with a parasitic infection, there is treatment. Staying away from the feces of the dog is the most important, and always washing hands after contact with the animal.

Ascaris: The roundworm ascaris may be transmitted by touching feces (dogs/ cats/ poor sanitation). This can be spread to children. Thus good handwashing technique and teaching children about handling strays or animal feces is important.
