Depends...: Local anesthetics vary in duration both in terms of their chemical structure (Bupivicaine lasts longer than Lidocaine, for example), whether they have adjuncts added to them (Epinephrine will prolong action), and where they are actually injected. Simply, the greater the blood supply to the area administered, the shorter they will last. So, an hour to 8 hours or more...
